Shore Team Beach Clean Ups
Every year, around 50 colleagues from the Berge Bulk Singapore Office travel to Batam, Indonesia, for a full day of volunteering with Seven Clean Seas.
During this annual volunteering trip, volunteers take part in a beach clean up efforts to remove over 1,000kg of plastic waste from the marine environment.
Volunteers also visit the Seven Clean Seas Material Recovery Facility to help sort, clean and bundle the plastic waste collected. Whilst there, they learn how waste can be upcycled to new products such as bricks, roof tiles, and tabletops.
“There are a lot of harmful shards of glass, metal or plastic with sharp edges that can injure marine life. Helping to clean-up the beach creates a safer environment for all.”Jeannie Woo
