Diversity & Inclusion Grantees

Berge Bulk promotes an equal and inclusive workplace, and this commitment to diversity and inclusion extends to the organisations that we support philanthropically.

The Marshall Foundation supports education for young people in Afghanistan and India, with a particular focus on there being no barriers — whether through gender, socio economic factors or learning capabilities. This approach fosters a sense of respect for others and the desire to think critically, not only for themselves, but for the better good.

These philanthropic partnerships are chosen carefully, with diversity and inclusivity being core. They are projects that not only directly help those in need — they also help to improve prospects for the communities that they are a part of.

School of Leadership, Afghanistan

The School of Leadership, Afghanistan (SOLA) is an Afghan-led, private boarding school for girls. SOLA’s mission is to provide Afghan girls with a rigorous education that promotes critical thinking, a sense of purpose, and respect for self and others.

The Marshall Foundation has been sponsoring girls to attend SOLA since 2016. With the Taliban taking power again in Afghanistan in 2021, SOLA relocated all its staff and students to school facilities in Rwanda for their safety and so that the girls could continue with their education. SOLA continues to draw Afghan girls from around the world in the hope that these girls grow up to become members of the generation who will one day lead a peaceful and united Afghanistan.

Sol’s Arc

Sol’s Arc is an Indian charity, founded in 2003, that works to try and prevent socially and economically disadvantaged groups from being excluded from mainstream education and employment. The charity provides inclusive content and methodologies for all children in Government Schools, and tools and support to build the capacity of teachers to teach in a way that addresses the learning needs of struggling learners — including the disabled, and people with special learning and psycho-social needs, to help ensure that children at risk stay in school.

The Marshall Foundation has been supporting Sol’s Arc since 2024 as they look to expand their work to a new state, Uttar Pradesh.
