In partnership with global tree-planting organisations, the Marshall Foundation has supported tree-planting projects in Kenya and Morocco — helping to plant millions of trees, restoring vital ecosystems and empowering local communities by providing work. By channelling this philanthropic funding, together we optimise environmental impact and reduce emissions.
Veritree
Social enterprise, Veritree, believes that restoring nature goes hand-in-hand with achieving global goals for climate and biodiversity. They track and verify reforestation projects, with advanced technology and on-the-ground monitoring — connecting mission-driven companies with nature-based solutions and cutting-edge technology, to restore ecosystems with transparency. In 2024 Berge Bulk funded the planting of 1 million mangrove seedlings in Kenya.
High Atlas Foundation
High Atlas Foundation (HAF), a nonprofit organisation, partners with Moroccan communities to implement programmes in earthquake recovery, sustainable farming, women’s empowerment and clean water. They grow a diverse range of tree seedlings in their community-managed nurseries across Morocco which are then sold to farmers at affordable rates. This initiative aligns with our commitment to decarbonise shipping operations and invest in solutions to capture carbon through technology and nature. HAF has planted 1.5 million fruit trees across Morocco to date.
